Looks like a beautiful course 👍⛳️
It's a great island with some wonderful golf courses
James, it's Andrea Pavan, I've backed the wrong one before... Matthieu Pavon lol
LOL Typo, its ok on the website, but I will see if I can update this later, not sure I will be able to
You were over the target this week! I was with you on Bhatia but not Davis. A disappointing three-putt by Bhatia on the last hole.
Yes two pulled putts cost him big time
What tees are you playing from?
Hey Zach, all courses are filmed from the back tees which then gives the viewer the view of the other teeing options on each hole
Please review the Ben Hogan Edge EX too! 👍🏻
Hi Chris, I will ask and see if we can get it in the Christmas issue, if not then I will try for next years Masters issue, but will probably put the video up on here first anyway. I will keep you posted
@@planetgolfreview Thanks, not many reviews of them to make a decision. The only long review I read, the guy said the feel was very “muddy”. 🧐
Interesting comment, I wonder if he meant the way the ball came off the face! Instead of springing off the face like some of the game improvement irons do, that the muddy feeling was the ball sticking to the face, which would mean more of the ball getting into the grooves which would create more spin
@@planetgolfreview I think he was saying the “feel” was vague. Not really forged feeling.
I put a large bet on Scottie for the US open, just before the off, a large ew bet on Morikawa and a large bet on Rory. It was a huge disappointment to wake up here in Thailand to see Rory had blown it and Morikawa fell out of the places. I'm done with golf betting now, in fact all betting! Good luck all!
It is one of the reasons I say at the end of my videos, just bet for fun. My uncle was a bookie and my mum always told me, "You see your uncle Kenny, his a bookie and you will always see rich bookies and you will always see poor punters!"
you did super edition- James-🙃
Backed scottie scheffler ew brooks keopa
What a weekend of golf Anthony, I would have never thought both Scottie and Brooks would be nowhere near the Top 10
I've backed Scheffler every time he hasn't won lol so I'm leaving him alone again so he will win! I'm on Morikawa, Rory, Koepka and Tommy Fleetwood and ew Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler, Nicolai Hojgaard and Martin Kaymer. I should cancel all my bets and put it on Scheffler! How did Soderberg blow his lead?
With all departments of his game on fire Scottie is the man to beat this week especially with his short game around the greens, which is going to be needed this week with those run-offs. Definitely Keegan for each-way, will be interesting to see how Nicolai performs. Soderberg has that in him, it's why I rarely tip him but it was a weak field on home soil so I thought he would do well as he had been playing well. But, after what happened I can't see him coming back from that.
Niel, Your comment on the Travelers Championship has somehow disappeared so I didn't have chance to read it or reply
@@planetgolfreview I put a large bet on Scottie for the US open, just before the off, a large ew bet on Morikawa and a large bet on Rory. It was a huge disappointment to wake up here in Thailand to see Rory had blown it and Morikawa fell out of the places. I'm done with golf betting now, in fact all betting! Good luck all!
What a freaking disappointment! Hope you filled your boots with Grant!
On Rory and Viktor this week
Sorry Neil I was away so didn't have much time, but that collapse was something else it's the reason I haven't tipped him as he has been playing well. Shame about Viktor, but at the moment you can't look past Scottie if he tees it up. I so want Rory to win a major but it's not looking good at the moment
On Sebastian Soderberg, good start too!
Laurie Canter 28
Good luck with that William, I do feel a lot of LIV players who play in European Tour events play with added guilt, which is one of the reasons I rarely tip them. Pieters was different, I tipped him as he was playing in front of a home crowd and family and friends
nice one!
Yes great call, I certainly didn't think he would hold out come the last round
EW double on Jordan Smith and Tommy Fleetwood!
I am wondering if Tommy not winning on the PGA Tour is becoming as big as weight as Rory not winning a Masters, but I do hope you are right
Had a trixie on S. Scheffler, T. Pieters and R. Bland, drew a blank with 1 winner and 2 seconds lol! Not who you back but how you back em! I sense a surge from Tommy Fleetwood, win here and the US open!
Ouch that is harsh. See above re Tommy
may as well lose more on Scottie!
Looks like that arrest has affected him more than we thought. Can't see Vahala ever getting a major again
Valhalla!
Adrien Dumont De Chassart? lol
LOL
Your coffers must be well topped up by now, favourites winning with regularity. My KIMs all lost but HJ Kim won the tournament I didn't have a bet in lol! Got Rory at 9/1 ew 8 places and Scottie at 5.8 win on the exchange, only 2 bets although I think De Chambo could have a good run!
I did look at DeChambeau after how he started at The Masters, but he hasn't won on Liv which has to be easier than the PGA Tour so that ruled him out for me. Brooks has a thing for the Majors and never really played that great in normal events and I have gone with Niemann if Hideki pulls out as he has won twice now. But it is going to be another interesting week, but put a pound each-way on Van Rooyen he could be a dark horse this week and is in form
Si Woo Kim 33/1 Winner - PGA Tour - Wells Fargo Championship 2024 S.H. Kim 40/1 Winner - PGA Tour - Myrtle Beach Classic 2024 Sei Young Kim 25/1 Winner - LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup 2024 how about 3 S. Kims (middle initials WHY!) Yes that is WHY I'm always losing lol!
Only just seen this, but nice work Neil, you should have asked for the odds on that happening they may have given you decent odds. I would say with hindsight maybe not!
@@planetgolfreview Just noticed I missed the European Tour ladies, HJ Kim has won lol
LOL
Adrien Dumont De Chassart has to pop up somewhere and why not here!
Top 20 at the moment so you never know. A few more Top 10s and he may start to be worth looking at
Money won at this event is just as welcome as money won at the Wells Fargo!
LOL very true and better odds, it's going to be interesting to see who challenges
Good morning James, much appreciated the suggestions, I'm looking forward to play some of those courses....thanks again for sharing all the material in UA-cam, keep it coming!!!!! Best regards, Victor
James.. How does the PTx Tour differ fromthe PTx Pro irons which I have a set....
To be honest I haven't tested the PTx Pro irons, when I do I will let you know or look out for the review
I play the PTx Pro since 5 years (after playing 12 years 50th golden anniversary irons). The difference is in the middle of the back. The bridge is longer on the tour model. So the difference is similar to: PTx Pro = channel back to the PTx Tour = Apex. The PTx Tour is may be a little more “solid” than the PTx Pro.
Thanks for the reply and information
Hello James, I'm a big fan of your golf courses videos...traveling to Europe this summer planning to visit London, Paris, Rome, Tuscany, and Naples....I would like to play one Round of Golf in each country...what courses would you recommend? I will be renting clubs, looking for charming and with character Golf courses...I much appreciate any suggestions...kind regards, Vic
Hey Vic I hope you are well and glad you liked the videos. In answer to your question London you have some great options as there are some amazing golf courses in Surrey and Kent. If you don't want to travel too far from London then you have your pick of Wentworth, Sunningdale and Walton Heath although these are expensive to play so I would see what deals you can get before coming over. But a two hour train journey from central London brings in some amazing links golf course where you have Royal St Georges, Princes and Royal Cinque Ports. Some reviews and videos here planetgolfreview.com/Golf-Holidays/Golf-In-Kent.html Moving to Paris I don't know too many courses there, but the obvious is the Golf National where the Ryder Cup was played and one of the best courses in France Morfontaine. Moving to Rome then again the home of last years Ryder Cup the Marco Simone Golf Club and Tuscany there are several I have played there and here are a link to those three reviews planetgolfreview.com/Golf-Holidays/golf-in-tuscany-italy.html Unfortunately I haven't played any courses in Naples and don't know any courses down that way Hope that all helps, have an amazing time James
Someone has to win. Yes, Smith has struggled in the fourth round.
Indeed, I think with Smith at the moment if he is leading going into the final round and you're offered a good buy out at around the 6th - 9th holes it maybe worth thinking about taking it with his record over the last two years.
Prefer this course to sheringham
I understand Luka, Sheringham has the more dramatic holes, but overall I think Royal Cromer just pips it as well
New wedges are gonna be sweet. Vokey always has made great wedges. Why a review? Gonna spin. Made that way.
Hey Jeff, some people haven't played the SM wedges before and also players who have older SM wedges want to know what is new and if it's worth updating their wedges, hence the reviews by most golf publications/websites etc
Scheffler , matsyama , keopka , Xander and let’s not forget how well Henley is playing and finished fourth here last year . Good luck guys
Henley definitely coming under the radar
1:18 With you all the way on Matsuyama
Fingers crossed his putter gets hot
Hovland for me he will love the longer course steady bet for the masters
Hey Kevin, he's had a quiet year with his swing changes, but it is the easiest of the majors to win with the smaller field and I think he may just surprise everyone
@@planetgolfreview I feel the same mate 👍
The black look so good too! I have the apex edge from 2002 so nice! Thanks
Yes the black finish does look really nice
Been backing Viktor Hovland for many months and small amounts, if he turns up with his A game then he will win, currently 44.0 on the exchange, he was as low as 18/1 a few months ago. I'll also take a punt on Rory and Rahm to outscore Scottie! Outsider Sunjae Im although I very much doubt an outsider will win!
Hey Neil hope you are well mate. I think if Scottie turns up with his A game and putts even half decently he wins. Rory played well at the weekend, but for him its all about getting out of his own way, he has the game it's all mental now. Rahm and the other Liv golfers, it really is preparation, they performed well here last year and obviously Brooks also winning a major. But, is it enough competitive golf, can they just turn it on four times a year, I am not so sure. I know how fit they are, but four rounds of golf physically against playing 54 holes and the mental fatigue I am not sure it can be sustained over the extra 18-holes. But no doubt now the Liv players will pack the Top 10 having said that !!!
@@planetgolfreview I thought long and hard and decided to to back Scottie before the off at 6.2 on the exchange, I laid Viktor in running at 20.0 which covers my Scottie stake so I've basically free bets running on Scottie, Rory, Rahm and a few others, job done before round 1 has finished! Happy days, your wise words swayed me! Thanks matey!
Awesome, we're a golf club manufacturing company with our own factory, you might want to consider us as your alternate supplier!
I only review golf equipment, I am not a supplier
@@planetgolfreview Well, you're supposed to be a professional golf equipment evaluator. Good luck with your career!
Thank you
Thank you for the review. For me the Hogan PTx are the best irons made.
They are certainly up there, I have loved every minute of playing with them so far
Greetings from Washington DC James! Great to see you back. Another excellent review. Hearing great things about the Hogan PTx Tour. Next you should try the Equalizer II wedge, Texas grind. May be the best you can find off tight lies. Makes it easy. Hit ‘em well.
Strange you should say that David, I think I will be testing them for the Open Championship/July issue of PGR Magazine
Great review mate they do look beautiful 👍⛳️
They really are stunning and great to play, I love the feel of the ball coming off the face
What they like forgiveness wise .. currently play Wilson d9 forged … not sure if these are a similar profile
These are the Tour option, so it is aimed at the better player but with the weighting it does offer forgiveness as well as great feel. If you are looking for a bit more forgiveness then there is the Ben Hogan Edge Ex, but I haven't tested these as yet but they are aimed at the golfer who is looking for a bit more forgiveness, but still want a classic design
@@planetgolfreview I did have the edge ex a when they 1st came out .. they were nice , but are a really big profile compared to to d9 forged ..
Love your show mate 👍⛳️
Thanks Mate, I try to keep it as short and concise as possible, but at the same time giving the viewers enough information so you get to see the reason behind each tip.
Jordan Smith fell apart at the end and cost me a top-20. Mansell and Casey had a good week.
As I said to Niel, shame they all fell apart once they got a sniff of the lead
I also think Jordan Smith has a real problem now getting a tournament over the line, he has collapsed several times now instead of pushing on
Already backed 3 of your selections, McKibbin, Forrest and Strydom along with my fancy Matthieu Pavon, good luck!
Shame they all collapsed once they got a sniff of the lead
Maybe Zalatoris can get it done this week.
Well I have tipped him this week, so I do hope so. Fingers crossed last week was just a blip!
@@planetgolfreview Too bad he closed the back nine on Saturday with a pair of double bogeys.
Yea he was looking good and obviously has been working on his putting. But he is improving all the time and I feel he may not make those mistakes again this week
Zander was a total bust last week. What happened?
Sometimes golf goes like that and I am not sure if he got the worst of the weather conditions as well, but I'm hoping it hasn't dented his confidence and he's back to his best this week
Maybe this is Zander's week.
It was him or Thriston and it come down to Thriston's record on this course, but good luck with your picks
lol, already backed Rory and Cole and Adrien Dumont De Chassart, just because with a name like that he should be a winner!
great minds, but Rory could also miss the cut here. Got to be a winner with a name like that!!
9/2 to miss the cut with bet365, surely worth a punt!@@planetgolfreview
Is that all they're offering, obviously seen his record here as well!!
Matthew Baldwin won at a canter last year and 3rd placed Jaco Ahlers could both go well. I can't see how Tom McKibbin is joint Fav?
I did look at Tom he has been playing well of late, but we cut him from the short list, just wasn't sure compared to the others
Almost killed the groundsman on hole 1🙈
TBH it was some idiot who see that I was ready to tee off and thought I would stop and wait if he decided to cross anyway, I decided not to wait!
might as well bet $500 on each lawrence hoshino and ferguson IMO and be guaranteed one wins and covers the other 2 this is a rare move but super applicable in this scenario IMO
Yes it's not the strongest field Simon, but there are players like Connor Syme and Adrian Otaegui who haven't really fired this season yet and this could be just the tournament and field. But good luck my friend
you nailed it for Hideki Matsuyama.... What insight did you use for that pick?
Just watching over the last few tournaments and seeing that he was swinging more freely. As always with Hideki if he starts rolling that rock then he can go very low
Looks like you had a great day.
It's a beautiful island with a great golf course, I think it would be harder to not enjoy it even if you were hacking it around
Hey Evan I try to reply to all comments/correspondence, it may not be as quickly as I would like, but I’ll get there in the end and try to answer any questions or help out if I can
Great show as usual mate 👍⛳️
Well fingers crossed come Sunday
